Recent News

I'm currently still working on organizing hundreds of image files, mostly photography, and thinking of series or collections for some of those. I'm also working on analog drawings and paintings to become part of a new collection called Lighter which may also include some photography work.

About my travels, I've been outside of the US since summer 2024, and I'm hoping to settle somewhere longer term soon which will make it easier for me to do some things regarding my art including selling and showing. In the meantime, I'm creating and sharing online.

I'm also working on setting up print on demand global sales of prints and other items. Currently you can place orders directly with me - please visit the new Shop page for details.

Bio

Born Lee Bishop Jenkins in Monroe, NC in 1966, Lee was raised moving from town to town in the state and then spent her teen years in Winston-Salem. She is based in the Western US and currently traveling abroad.

Trained in traditional figurative styles of painting, drawing, and photography, Lee's more recent and current work focuses more on the experimental, abstract, and expressive. Her work in drawing, photography, and video / short film has been exhibited in the US and Europe.

As a young person, Lee's art and crafts were exhibited and won awards, and in her teens she illustrated zines and created punk rock t-shirts. She has written about art and film for blogs, taught elementary school kids about art history and drawing, and led Meetup group drawing and film viewing field trips and discussions. She has also created, curated, and organized online projects of other artists' works.

Her arts background also includes music, acting, and modeling.

Statements

"My practice for work and life sometimes involves detaching from mental processes and even emotion in order to allow a freely flowing and more natural experience for whatever comes up. This can result in some different types of abstract, minimal, or surreal work. I sometimes call work I do experimental or just experiments because that's what they were for me at the time or that is how they were categorized by others. If I were to choose a specific term for my art, I would consider a lot of it to be informel and often at least partly automatism."

"My work does not include the use of AI except occasionally in some editing features such as background remover, erase, or grab which I sometimes use for experimental videos, digital art, or preparing print files. My drawing, painting, photography, and writing is otherwise AI-free and human produced."
